Roger Ballen will show his work at Espai 2NOU2 from September 16th until October 30th. The artist, who is also exhibiting his work at the 17th Biennale of Sidney, will present a selection of photographies that depict the behavior and “modus vivendi” of those characters that lived in what he calls the “Boarding house” for a while. Poor workers, criminals hiding from the law, children, animals or insects, become into the main characters of a story that leave a special mark in this peculiar place.

The images, which have appeared through a work process of 5 years in this place situated near Johannesburg, blur the lines between documentary photography and art forms such as painting, theatre and sculpture. They make us question everything we see.

Ola Kolehmainen will show his work at the 17th Biennale of Sydney.

Ola Kolehmainen, who will present his work at Senda Gallery from July 15th until July 31st is showing his new project titled South of home-Journey of a mind at the 17th Biennale of Sidney that takes place from May 12th until August 1st.
South of home-Journey of a mind is composed by a series of projections of iconic modernist buildings, not only from Sydney but also from elsewhere that the artist has captured previously with photographs. These projections let us see the approaching of the artist to the material he wants to interpret, to what he tries to depict, in an abstract way, mystifying photography itself and giving qualities that have more to be with the elements he shows in reality than the thing in its iconic nature. Despite what we could think, there are no digital manipulations in the images.

Gao Xingjian will show his paintings at Casal Solleric

Gao Xingjian who won the Nobel prize in Literature will show his paintings at Casal Solleric in Palma de Mallorca with the exhibition Al fons del món.
From June 3rd to July 11th this place will exhibit the work of this versatile artist. The main characterictic of this work is the fusion between oriental and occidental culture. The ink or the rice paper become into the vehicle to investigate the pictoric matter and give it a pure contemporary sense in which there is no evidence of bounderies between abstraction and figuration.
