Works and lives in Berlin, Germany
Sandra Váquez de la Horra graduated from the University of Design in Viña del Mar, Chile in 1994 and finalized her post-graduate studies in the Kunsthochschule für Medien in Cologne, Germany, in 2002. That year, he had already exhibited in the Goethe Institut at Santiago de Chile and at the Entropie Galerie in Wroclaw. In her works, she applies wax pastel to create drawings that evoke a dark imaginary world in which she represents subversive subjects, such as religion, sex, folk culture, social realities and death. The viewer takes part of these anecdotic narratives full of magic, fantasy, irony, violence, sexuality and emotions.
