Francis Ruyter
Francis Ruyter nascido en 1968 en Washington DC, Estados Unidos
Vive y trabaja en Viena, Austria
Francis Ruyter es conocido por su trato a gran escala, colorido e inmediatamente reconocible de una amplia gama de temas. Estos trabajos han servido como un índice personal de la experiencia vivida del artista a través de imágenes fotográficas hechas por él mismo.
Ruyter comenzó a exponer en Nueva York en 1993 y, al igual que muchos de los artistas de ese momento, construyó un interés especial en transitar el exceso de imágenes, cuentos, arquitecturas invisibles, construcciones patológicas y la representación, especialmente la propia representación.
Los primeros trabajos de Ruyter están impulsados por el dibujo, compuestos a partir de un archivo de imágenes encontradas obligadas a relacionarse a través de contornos trazados, una estructura estilo web que en última instancia puede ser vista como representando a estas formas arquitectónicas fugitivas y sin autores, como pasa con el Internet.
En los últimos años, Ruyter ha vuelto al archivo como objeto –como una forma paradigmática del artefacto cultural, pero en un cambio conceptual importante ha abandonado el uso de fotografías hechas por sí mismo como fuente de material a favor de una versión propia de un índice de la colección fotográfica FSA/OWI.
