Vitali photographed this beach of Viareggio packed with people on January 1st of 2020. Ironically, as one does at the start of every year, they were probably celebrating and thrilled to welcome in the year in which they would finally hit the gym and accomplish all those new years resolutions. Some even decided to begin by jumping into the water in the winter cold. Little did they know that a good portion of the year was going to be spent inside in lockdown, really far from the beach. This piece is somehow the calm before the storm, an image that evokes freedom and fun, and now that we have spent almost two months stuck at home we see how easily we take the pleasure of going to the beach, or even going for a walk, for granted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
