Adrián Balseca born in 1989 in Quito, Ecuador.
Works and lives in Quito, Ecuador.
Balseca’s work intends to activate strategies of representation, narrative and / or interaction to highlight the cultural specificities of determined places. The artist is interested in exploring the relations and tensions between industrial production and craftsmanship, revealing his fascination with historical processes. He configures materials, used for the production of manufactured goods. Often, his work involves the transforming of everyday objects or determined civil laws into other material forms or legal experiences. These projects – from small interventions, to actions or documented videos for specific places at a large scale – are elaborated, based on ideas concerning emerging economies, nature, power, and social memory.
